Richard Gordon

Richard leads the college’s Commercial Operations, Projects & Grants, Business Development, and International teams, while also overseeing the Bids, Tenders & Research function. He works closely with key stakeholders, industry leaders, funding bodies, regional partners, international partners, and both Local and National Government to secure investment and drive commercial opportunities. Richard ensures that funding is maximised to benefit learners, employers, the community, and the wider economy across the Cardiff Capital Region.

Richard is a Welsh‑speaking Chartered Auditor and Associate Member of the CIPD. A certified project and programme manager, he brings 25 years’ experience across public sector and education audit, counter‑fraud, quality assurance, contract and programme management. He manages all externally funded grants and projects, ensuring full compliance and the successful delivery of objectives.

Richard also leads commercial growth across the college by diversifying income through new curriculum delivery, industry training, international partnerships and student mobility programmes.  His role includes driving employer engagement and business development so that industry skills needs are met, the learner talent pipeline is strengthened through enrichment and progression opportunities, and the college’s wider social value objectives are achieved.
