Develop your coaching and mentoring culture within your team and support your organisation with our ILM Level 5 Certification in Coaching and Mentoring! 

Whether you are aspiring to become a coach or a mentor, or you currently have coaching and mentoring responsibilities within an organisation, this nationally recognised qualification will explore how developing a coaching culture can enhance organisational productivity and positive behaviours in the workplace.

Practice your coaching techniques and apply models within a supportive environment with additional support from your tutor to encourage reflective practice and personal development within the coaching and mentoring role.

What you will study

To successfully achieve your ILM Level 5 Award, you will be required to attend 5 mandatory in-person classroom sessions and tutorial sessions with your tutor on the dates below:   

Day 1: Thursday 26th February 2026
Day 2: Thursday 26th March 2026
Day 3: Thursday 30th April 2026
Day 4: Thursday 4th June 2026
Day 5: Thursday 2nd July 2026
Day 6: Thursday 16th July 2026
Day 7: Thursday 20th August 2026

Modules Covered 

  • Unit 500: Understanding the Skills, Principles and Practice of Effective Coaching and Mentoring within an Organisational Context 

  • Unit 501: Undertaking Effective Coaching or Mentoring within an Organisational Context (18 hours of coaching practice within an organisation)

  • Unit 503: Reviewing Own Ability as a Coach or Mentor within an Organisational Context

Assessment Options

This qualification consists of 3 leadership modules, each with a comprehensive assignment consisting of; a written theory-based assignment, a portfolio of 18 hours of coaching within an organisation, and a reflective-based assignment.

Self-study time is essential to help you complete your assignments and prepare for your assessment – so be sure to plan your schedule accordingly.  

You will receive full support throughout, with guidance from your dedicated ILM tutor via email, Microsoft TEAMS, phone and during your tutorial days.

Once you have successfully passed both modules, you will be awarded your ILM Level 5 Certificate in Effective Coaching Certificate, along with a digital credential badge to share and celebrate your achievement online.

Entry requirements

Course and Enrolment Fee payment to be made upon enrolment

To be eligible for this qualification, you must:

  • be in employment in a Supervisor, Team Leader or First Line Manager role (due to the reflective nature of the qualification assignments)
  • upload a minimum 100-word Personal Statement when applying to outline your interest in obtaining this qualification
  • upload evidence of your highest qualification to date e.g. GCSE or Degree Certificate All applications, personal statements and qualification evidence will be assessed by our Course Tutors.

The team will then be in touch to confirm your overall suitability for this level of ILM qualification. Please note that we cannot process applications without a Personal Statement.
