The college places a strong emphasis on the use of Labour Market Intelligence (LMI) in curriculum planning. We use LMI to guide the development of our courses and to make sure our provision meets the needs of individuals, employers and the Welsh economy. Over the past ten years, CAVC has made significant progress to ensure LMI is:
LMI is central to the first stage of curriculum planning and underpins the production of a comprehensive plan that reflects regional needs. The Curriculum and Business Planning process gives clear responsibility to Faculty Directors to ensure effective use of LMI, supported by the CAVC Business team. The team produces a detailed curriculum planning report each year. This combines quantitative and qualitative evidence with insight from Lightcast, labour market forecasts, CCR priorities, wider regional developments and recommendations from the Regional Skills Partnership.
Our approach to curriculum planning ensures that CAVC is responding to regional and employer needs and delivering curriculum which meets this need and maximises the opportunities for learners to achieve progression into employment or further learning.
The progression of learners into further learning, Apprenticeships, Higher Education or Employment following this approach continues to be excellent, with consistently high proportions of learners moving on to positive destinations.
