It is equivalent to postgraduate study with classes taking place weekly (term time only), for 18 months.
What you will study
This course is delivered through facilitated sessions, structured learning and one-to-one support at our City Centre Campus every Thursday (term time only) from 2pm-7pm, for 18 months.
The course and qualification are built around the CIPD Profession Map that sets the international benchmark for people professionals, combining a set of core values, knowledge and behaviours which guide people professionals in their decision-making and actions.
The course will combine key theories and models, along with real life case studies and organisational best practice.
Content and Assessment:
To obtain this qualification, you will be required to write and submit unit assignments to set deadlines (approximately 4000 words per assignment). There are 8 units overall:
4 core units:
- Work and Working Lives in a Changing Business Environment
- People Management and Development Strategies for Performance
- Personal Effectiveness, Ethics and Business Acumen
- Business Research in People Practice
3 specialist units:
- Strategic Employment Relations
- Resourcing and Talent Management to Sustain Success
- Strategic Reward Management
1 additional unit:
- Advanced Employment Law in Practice
CIPD Memberships:
All students will require an active CIPD Membership throughout their qualification. If you do not already have one, CAVC will invite you to register your Membership upon enrolment.

Entry requirements
You are eligible for this course if you:
- are aged 19 or over
- are not in full time education
- can attend all workshop dates
- hold a A*- C in GCSE English or equivalent or a higher qualification
- ideally hold a CIPD Foundation Certificate Level 3 and/or a CIPD Associate Diploma Level 5
- are currently working in a Strategic people practice role leading and managing people practice within organisations
