Upskilling@Work is a funded operation supported by the European Social Fund through the Welsh Government which will continue until July 31st, 2023. It is part of a pan-Wales operation designed to enhance skills and increase productivity in the workplace, providing opportunities for employers to gain accredited qualifications for their workforces.
CAVC is a joint beneficiary of the East Wales Upskilling@Work operation and collaborates in partnership with colleges across the region to provide up to 100% funding for eligible companies across a wide a range of subjects including:
Cardiff and Vale College has used Upskilling@Work to provide high quality demand-led solutions to employers across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan. The funding is part of a portfolio of 'products', complimenting the Welsh Government's Personal Learning Accounts (PLA), Apprenticeships, commercial solutions and other funding routes.
The success of Upskilling@Work cannot be overstated (over 1,200 individuals positively impacted by training funded through the operation to date), particularly within the SME market which makes up 47% of employers benefited.
We also work with local authorities, trade unions, and other sector-specific training boards to support the cost of training with match-funding.
Personal Learning Accounts provide a flexible and fully funded learning entitlement (available until July 31st, 2023) which supports employed individuals earning below £29,534pa, or those whose jobs are at risk of redundancy to gain the right skills and change careers or progress in employment. The courses are specifically designed to address vocational training in sectors with skills shortages, ensuring the future needs of the economy are met.

The Multiply programme, funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, provides fully funded numeracy courses to help adults enhance their numeracy skills, gain confidence, and obtain qualifications. Multiply is aimed at adults who are aged 19 or older and who live or work in the Vale of Glamorgan.
We’ve partnered with a number of providers to deliver courses in the community designed for individuals, families and employers to meet specific needs.
Courses available will range from beginner to more advanced such as GCSE Maths, Essential Skills Qualifications, or equivalent, so you will be able to learn at a pace that suits you.
