The Qualsafe Level 2 Award in Understanding Mental Health in the Workplace is designed to raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of common mental health conditions and how best to offer support within the workplace.

What you will study

This course is delivered at our City Centre Campus from 9.30am – 4pm.


Topics covered:

  • Understanding mental health and its importance 

  • Identifying the roles and responsibilities of those associated with mental health in the workplace 

  • Legislation associated with mental health in the workplace 

  • Promoting positive mental health in the workplace 

  • Common mental health conditions

  • Identifying key features within a mental health first aid at work action plan and listening techniques


Assessment: 

To obtain this qualification, you will need to pass an assessment at the end of the day. This qualification is valid for 3 years. 

Entry requirements

This programme is funded through Multiply. To be eligible to enrol, you must:

- Be aged 19 or over

- Be able to provide evidence that you currently work and/live in Cardiff and the Vale e.g. ID, Utility Bill, Employment Contract with full address clearly stated

- Be dedicated to attending the entire session

After completing this course you can go on to complete the full 2-year Extended Diploma. Many students progress onto courses at university, others go directly into employment. CAVC offers a HNC in Sport Coaching which if competed successfully leads on to a top up at Cardiff Metropolitan University to complete the full degree course.
